Chloe Piene

In her drawings and sculptures, Chloe Piene utilises motifs that refer both to eroticism and death. Her drawings consist of very fine drawn charcoal lines that form figures and limbs. These figures exist somewhere between life and death, between lust and transience. Both the sculptures and the drawings appear to have been formed through the uncontrolled and chaotic intuition of the artist.

The world she creates is experienced by the viewer as subversive and dark, yet also charged with existentialist thoughts and art historical references to Vanitas motifs.
