Gert & Uwe Tobias

The brothers Tobias became famous because of their large-scale work on paper as well as their installations. What is special is that they revived the old reproduction technique of woodcut. From the Middle Ages until the twentieth century there existed both in Flanders and in Germany an important tradition of wood engraving.

The work of the brothers Tobias illustrates that this ancient technique still offers today numerous opportunities, based on varied formats and colours.
