In the Spring of My Country
In 2003, it will be one hundred years since the debut collection Het vaderhuis by Karel van de Woestijne was published, and in 2004, it will be seventy-five years since the poet passed away.
The name of Van de Woestijne, who was born in Ghent in 1878, is forever linked to the municipality of Latem through his years of residence and his Laethemsche brieven over de lente.
The exhibition In the Spring of My Country brings together over twenty works by Latem artists, accompanied by commentary from their friend Karel. Thus, a unique historical document is created through images and text that can still refine our perspective today.
