Koen van den Broek
Shadows of time

Koen van den Broek has gained international fame in recent years with his paintings that originate from a photographic image, creating intense tension between space and perspective, light and shadow, abstraction, and illusion.

In the spring of 2005, the Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens presented the first solo exhibition of Koen van den Broek in Belgium. MDD considers it a grateful task to continue monitoring artists who have exhibited here in the past.

Thus, the recent series Shadows of Time from 2008 is presented at the MDD, consisting of twenty works in black polyurethane on stainless steel. With this series, Koen van den Broek explores how his visual language can lead to new plastic possibilities within his body of work.
