Launch new collection catalogue

The new collection catalogue, De collectie Irma en Jules Dhondt-Dhaenens. Een voorstelling, follows nearly three decades after the previous edition. The publication is entirely dedicated to the collection of Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens — the one hundred and twenty-five works collected by its founders, Irma and Jules Dhondt-Dhaenens.

The catalog deliberately avoids a chronological exploration of styles and -isms, allowing the works to engage with each other in an unforced and dynamic manner within twenty-two clusters.

Inge Braeckman, Bart Cassiman, Chantal Pattyn, Herwig Todts, Kia Tsakiridis, Karen Van Godtsenhoven, Olga Van Oost, Cathérine Verleysen, and Bart Verschaffel contribute texts that shed new light on the heritage collection of MDD.

Launch 9 December

Bart Verschaffel will introduce the publication, drawing from his insights on how collections come into existence and, more importantly, how they continue to evolve.

A curated selection of works from the MDD collection will be on display during the launch.

The event will conclude with a reception.
