Art & Language
Art & Language is an evolving collaboration of various conceptual artists which was initiated in the United Kingdom in around 1967. Over the decades, many artists have been associated with Art & Language for shorter or longer periods, creating work together ‘in the name of’ Art & Language. Art & Language has remained active to this day.
Works by Art & Language have always focused on art theory and the importance of language in the arts. The impact of Art & Language has been of particular significance to the conceptual discourse in Europe and the United States.
The exhibition at Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens does not aim to present a retrospective but will approach two distinct periods of Art & Language from a specific angle and place the works in dialogue with each other.
The exhibition is realized in close collaboration with Art & Language.
