Duiven van Glas
Maria Roosen is known for her delicate yet striking works in glass, which often take the form of every day yet unexpected objects.
While she is recognized for her glass installations, Maria Roosen’s artistic repertoire encompasses various media, including photography. Roosen’s collaboration with others, particularly skilled craftsmen like glassblowers, embodies her artistic process.
In a recent project commissioned by the neighbourhood library of the Brugse Poort in Ghent, Roosen’s engagement with the local community inspired a remarkable installation: lifelike glass doves, a homage to the vibrant multicultural fabric of the area. Guided by the stories and experiences of the residents, Roosen’s meticulous exploration culminated in the creation of these ethereal bird sculptures, crafted by master glassblower Pino Signoretto in Murano, Italy.
