PLAKT
PLAKT is a project by artlead that brings prints by twelve artists into public space, appearing unexpectedly in cities across Flanders and Brussels. MDD is delighted to offer them a platform as well.
The posters are distributed by professional billposters, who decide where and when the images appear. In this way, art becomes part of the city’s rhythm.
In addition to the posters, French artist Valérian Goalec designed a steel wall sculpture inspired by the advertising frames found in the Paris metro. Since these structures cannot simply be installed in public space, a second chapter of PLAKT took shape through collaborations with cultural institutions outside the major cities. There, Goalec’s sculpture serves as a support for the works of the other participating artists.
A project by artlead, in collaboration with Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens, IKOB Eupen, CC Strombeek, De Warande Turnhout, Kunsthal Mechelen, NW Aalst, De Brakke Grond Amsterdam, Abby Kortrijk, and C-mine Genk.
